What Female Veterans Actually Did

Despite this record, female veterans are often invisible in the broader conversation about military service. When someone thanks "veterans," they frequently picture men. When someone spots a female veteran at a community event, they sometimes express surprise. This invisibility is something many female veterans find more frustrating than the service itself.
